Trial Flight Lesson – Grumman Tiger

A trial lesson in this light aircraft is the most fun way to get acquainted with flying. Your flight lesson takes place in a Grumman Tiger (AA-5B), a sporty and comfortable aircraft known for its excellent performance and outstanding visibility. You will fly one-on-one with an experienced flight instructor.

Whether you are gaining your very first flying experience or want to further develop your skills, the Grumman Tiger is an excellent choice.

Location

One of our flight schools is located at Rotterdam The Hague Airport, a dynamic airport where general aviation and commercial traffic operate side by side. This makes your trial lesson extra special, as you will be flying from an international airport with professional air traffic control.

From the flight school, you have a great view of the runways and can experience the lively atmosphere of the airport up close.

Theory

Your experience starts with a short theoretical briefing about flying. During this session, the instructor will explain what you will be doing during the lesson and answer any questions you may have.

If you are visiting the flight school with your partner, friend, and/or family member, they are very welcome to join the briefing so they also know what to expect in the air.
The theory session lasts approximately 15 minutes.

Practical

After the theory session, you will go to the aircraft with your instructor to perform the pre-flight inspection and ensure the Grumman Tiger is ready for departure. You will then start the engine and taxi to the runway.

Through your headset, you will hear both your instructor and the air traffic control tower at Rotterdam Airport. The instructor will request takeoff clearance—and then it’s time: takeoff.

Under the instructor’s supervision, you can fly almost everything yourself, except for the final part of the landing. If you wish to enjoy the view, take photos, or record video, the instructor will gladly take over the controls for a moment.

Grumman Tiger (AA-5B)

The Grumman Tiger is a fast and stable four-seat aircraft, used for the lesson with only the student and instructor on board. Thanks to its sliding canopy and low-wing design, it offers excellent panoramic views. You are welcome to bring your own GoPro or camera to record your flight.

Flights are conducted during daylight hours only. In winter, daylight ends earlier than in summer. If weather conditions such as wind or visibility are outside safe operating limits, the lesson will be rescheduled at no extra cost.

Please call one day before your lesson to check whether the weather is suitable for flying. You will receive the phone number with your reservation.

Lessons can be conducted in Dutch and English.

Valid identification is required; please bring your ID card or passport. Access to the airport is not permitted without valid identification.
