Privileges & Validity

• Act as PIC on aircraft in the category and class for which the PPL is issued
• VFR operations by day and by night within EASA member states and ICAO-compliant worldwide
• Validity: unlimited (the rating itself does not expire once issued)
• Medical certificate: Class 2
• Revalidation: privileges remain valid as long as the underlying PPL and medical certificate remain valid

Entry Requirements

• Minimum age: 17 years
• Hold a valid PPL(A) or be in training for one
• Medical certificate: Class 2
• RT (Radio Telephony) license and Language Proficiency Endorsement (LPE) level 4+ for radio communication

Flight Training

• Total minimum of 5 hours night flight training, including:
• Min. 3 hours dual night instruction with an instructor, including at least 1 hour of cross-country navigation
• Min. 5 solo take-offs and 5 solo full-stop landings at night
• No skill test required (competency signed off by the instructor)

Night Rating

The Night Rating is the perfect addition to your PPL, allowing you to fly safely and confidently after sunset. It expands your flying privileges, improves your navigation and instrument skills, and adds an extra level of flexibility to your flights.

With a short and efficient training course, you will learn the essentials of night flying, including navigation, circuit training, and solo night flights. No skill test is required — your instructor will sign off your competency once you complete the training.
